Original bank check from The State Bank of Virginia signed by Confederate States Major General James Kemper. Kemper is well remember for being wounded on Day 3 at Gettysburg during Pickett's Charge. Kemper would be captured by Union Troops only to be rescued later. His wound was deemed mortal but he would survive the war.This bank check is from 1886 and is signed by Kemper in period ink in the lower right hand corner.
